ASHLEE DAY
BIOGRAPHY
Ashlee Day, M.A., CEO of A New Day Counseling, Inc. is a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. With several years’ experience as a Behavioral Health Provider, CARF Surveyor, and supervisor, she opened her own practice in 2010 where she specializes in life and career adjustments, anxiety, couples and marriage counseling, parent support, mood regulation, stress and conflict management, and communication improvement. Ms. Day strongly believes the therapeutic approach is most successful when providing support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges and improve one's quality of life. She incorporates creative techniques into her practice and believes there is a definite correlation between healing and the arts.

EDUCATION
Ashlee Day was born and raised in Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City Public Schools from the age of five all the way through graduation. After graduating from Putnam City Original High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in General Education and Professional Studies with minors in Sociology, Psychology and Substance Abuse Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma. After spending her first few years as a young professional working in the substance abuse field, Ms. Day attended Southern Nazarene University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Marital and Family Therapy.  Both while attending SNU and after, Ashlee continued to work in the Behavioral Health Field with a Long Term Inpatient Facility for women with dependent children, Substance Abuse and Methadone Clinics, as well as in Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinics and Hospitals. She spent most of her time helping adults, families and children. 


KENYA BOONE
BIOGRAPHY
Kenya Boone, M.A., is a Licensed Professional Counselor who joined ANDC in 2011.  As the Community Relations Coordinator she effectively facilitates the delivery of services to the community. She regularly participates in professional training and consultation. She has over 10 years of experience in the mental health field and has worked in areas which include, but are not limited to, traumatic events, abuse, neglect, childhood development, as well as stress and anger management. She uses several approaches in her work with young children, adolescents and adults, including family systems, cognitive-behavioral and person-centered theory. She has concluded that utilizing these theories stimulates the enhancement of personal strengths and empowerment to reach personal goals.

EDUCATION
Kenya Boone is a native of Oklahoma. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. After graduation, she began working as a Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist at an inpatient mental facility. She went on to further her education and received a Master's Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. She proceeded to work at a home-based outpatient facility where therapeutic services are provided within the home, office or school. Kenya believes in the value of every person within her counseling practice and makes sure to display compassion while listening to clients and assisting them in developing their goals.


CHERIE BOX
BIOGRAPHY
Cherie Box, M.A., is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. As the Clinical Director, Ms. Box brings several years experience in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Field. Her background in trauma-related work, as well as addiction education and training is a tremendous asset to ANDC.  She has worked in residential and outpatient treatment settings as well as home and community based programs. Working with individuals and families who have a broad range of needs has provided her with a well-rounded and competent modality of treatment methods to pull from. 

EDUCATION
Cherie Box has spent most of her life in Oklahoma and earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Central Oklahoma in Sociology with an emphasis on Substance Abuse Studies. She proceeded to further her education earning her Master’s Degree in Human Relations, from the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Box continued expanded her reach in the behavioral health field by making a dedicated effort to work with diverse populations. Cherie is passionate about the opportunity to work with individuals and families and is excited to be a representative of A New Day Counseling, Inc.


MYRLANE MENDENHALL
BIOGRAPHY
Myrlane Mendenhall, M.A., LPC lives in Edmond with her husband of 42 years, Ken who are both natives of Enid. Her counseling work includes an extensive background working with children, families, and adults.  Myrlane enjoys working with diverse populations many of whom have experienced abandonment and trauma related events.  The foundation for her therapeutic style draws from Person/Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems Therapy. These three therapy styles currently provide her with a foundation for developing a relationship with clients, helping them to understand their negative cognitions, how those developed from their own environment and families of origin, and to realize the positive cognitions they would like to believe for successful living. As she enters into a relationship with a client, she tries to offer a warm, caring therapeutic environment which helps them feel safe while exploring challenging issues.

EDUCATION
Myrlane Mendenhall attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She worked in early childhood programs and taught for 18 years before to returning to school to earn a Master's Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. Myrlane loves meeting with people and wants each person to know they don’t have to go through their difficulties alone.  To view her personal website please click HERE.


DR. YONG H. KIM, PsyD
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Yong Kim, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist and specializes in psychological testing and assessment for diagnostic implications and treatment recommendations for children and adults at A New Day Counseling, Inc. Dr. Kim has over 10 years of clinical experience at various levels in the mental health field and related academia.

EDUCATION
Dr. Kim completed his doctorate of psychology in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology following his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Kim completed his predoctoral internship at Cleveland State University in Ohio and his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Central Arkansas. 


ARMANDO PRADO
BIOGRAPHY
Armando Prado, B.A., is a Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist, Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager, and Wellness Coach in the State of Oklahoma. He brings over 5 years of experience from the Criminal Justice Field.  Armando is an active member of the Hispanic and Latino Community and has always said that he wanted to assist those who struggle with hardships such as, education, language, and multi-cultural barriers.  With Armando’s experience in the Criminal Justice Field along with his bilingual skills, he hopes to support the Hispanic and Latino Community grow rich in knowledge. He now happily works for A New Day Counseling, Inc. where he can support effective change to a population that is under served.

EDUCATION
Armando Prado was born in the City of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico and partially raised in Oklahoma City attending Oklahoma Public Schools. Upon high school graduation Armando traveled back to Mexico as an exchange student where he attended a prestigious and multicultural university called La Universidad Autonoma de Guanajuato. There he took various courses in the field of Political Science and Education. Upon course completion Mr. Prado decided to attend ITT-Technical Institute where he graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed studying juvenile justice, social psychology, ethics, multicultural law enforcement, substance abuse, and criminology. While attending ITT-Tech, Armando was a member of the Criminal Justice Club where he was named Vice President for one term, is an active member of The National Technical Honor Society, and graduated ITT-Tech top of his class with highest honors available. 


AMY HAMPTON
BIOGRAPHY
Amy Hampton, LPC is a dedicated human service professional, working with at-risk individuals and families for over 11 years. Her background in the homeless population, leadership skills, and experience in case management and trauma informed care has both prepared and inspired Amy to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She enjoys working with adults, couples, families, and those interested in taking a deeper look into their psyche.  

EDUCATION
Amy Hampton was born and raised in Oklahoma and attended Southwestern Christian University where she obtained her B.S. in Human and Family Services, followed by a M.S. Degree in Counseling Psychology at Mid America Christian University.  Amy joined A New Day Counseling, Inc. over 4 years ago because of her desire to be part of a team that strives to provide quality therapeutic services within her community.


TIFFANY MAGNESS
BIOGRAPHY
Tiffany Magness, LCSW believes in a holistic approach to health & wellness, which means she will look at how all areas of life are connected (nutrition, exercise, self care, career, relationships, spirituality, recreation, etc). She will partner with you to assess each area and will help you learn how to maximize your health through preventative means. Whether you want to lose weight, work on stress management, prevent illness or disease through nutrition, or find a healthy balance between work and family, the two of you will formulate a plan for your specific needs!

Both as a licensed counselor and a health coach she uses an integrative approach to help clients get healthier, emotionally and physically. Her training in both psychotherapy and health coaching equipped her to help clients navigate through issues related to their overall health and wellness.  For more information, check out her website here!

EDUCATION
Tiffany graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in Psychology and a Master of Social Work. With her education in both Psychology and Social Work, she had a 7-year career in Mental Health. She wore multiple hats and was able to work as a case manager, an intake worker, and as an individual & group therapist.  She was blessed to have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings and with various populations of clients to ultimately to help them reach their specific treatment goals.


CHRIS NEAL
BIOGRAPHY
Chris Neal, LPC Candidate approaches every individual as a complete person, and not as someone needing to be "fixed." He will work together to travel from where you are into a brighter future. Being truly seen and heard by someone else can be incredibly healing, and giving you a voice is his starting place. As you and him explore ways you have learned to protect yourself throughout life, understanding how past hurts live on in the mind and body, new insights and possibilities can arise.

He takes an integrative approach that explores how the mind, body, and spirit all interact. He hopes to explore not only how your thoughts and emotions affect each other, but also how stress and trauma live in the body.

EDUCATION
After a 20-year career teaching music, Chris decided it was time for a change. SABRINA GHARIB
BIOGRAPHY
Sabrina Gharib, LPC uses a warm and interactive approach to help the person feel safe during their counseling journey. With her experience in private practice, hospital, and clinical settings counseling clients in individual, family and group therapy has been where she developed methodologies in crisis intervention, chemical dependency, relapse pervention, and stress management. She works in an empathetic and inquiring way, supporting you in facing what is difficult in your life and within yourself. It is not unusual for her to incorporate humor, when appropriate. EDUCATION
Sabrina has experience working in a variety of settings which include: inpatient, outpatient, intensive home-based therapy and groups. She is licensed in both Oklahoma and Texas and has been in private practice for the past 10 years.  Her forte is the ability to relate to people, make them feel comfortable and assist them in problem solving. She is extremely passionate about her work and feels blessed to be doing what she loves! She welcomes the opportunity to work with you and wants to help you restore happiness in your life.


LICENSING
With a goal to ensure access to appropriate care for all Oklahomans, and an on-going focus on increasing the effectiveness of services, A New Day Counseling, Inc. holds Licenses and Certifications from many different Oklahoma State Agencies.  The Oklahoma State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors govern Licenses in the Alcohol and Drug field (www.okdrugcounselors.org) and the Oklahoma State Department of Health governs the division of professional counselors in Oklahoma (www.ok.gov/health). 

The Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service (www.odmhsas.org) recognizes the importance of a well-trained, competent workforce and therefore regulates standards through certification for providers such as Behavioral Health Case Managers and provides specialized training for individuals providing a specific set of services like behavioral health rehabilitation services, and offers a wide variety of other training opportunities to promote professional development.

There are more than 42,000 NCCs working in every state in the US. NCCs serve an estimated 500,000 clients each year. The NCC Registry at (www.nbcc.org)offers easy access to NCCs and can be searched by counselor location, name or certificate number. NBCC’s “Counselor Find” feature offers the same access to NCCs who accept referrals and provides their business city, state and phone numbers. 

ANDC maintains professional membership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org), The American Counseling Association, (www.counseling.org) as well as subscribing to and being a supporter of SAMHSA, PsychCentral, OKC Giving Day, Oklahoma Parents Center, Infant Crisis Center and many other Oklahoma based organizations.
